Fuel Prices in Holland

We moan and complain about our fuel prices over here in the UK, well spare a thought for those in Holland. I was over there last week and had to fill up in Tilburg ready for the trip back to the UK the next morning, I was astounded, the unleaded over there worked out to £1.41 per litre, scary!

I need a bigger fuel tank on the Pan which will give me a range of about 400 miles, trouble is I don't know where it would fit on the bike.

There is one upside to prices over the other side of the channel though, the tobacco is nice and cheap, 49 Euro for 10 50 gram Samson about half price compared to here.

All the best and ride safe

  1. Dave, you can get a 'fuel cell' which IIRC fits under the single seat hump (assuming you have or would have one fitted).

It's been posted on one of the Pan sites we both frequent - I just can't remember which just now.

I think it's an American item so I guess the shipping wouldn't be cheap. I'll keep my eye out and let you know.

BTW, fuel economy on the Pan; I hear people talk about 350 miles per tank! I never see that; I did the Wootton Bassett ride the other day - 521 miles, 3 tanks (£75!!) which to my maths is more like 174 miles. Some of the trip was at 80mph on the motorway (allegedly!) but most of it was in a steady group.

What range (or mpg) do you get from a tank?

  2. Hi Martin,

may avergae per full (brimmed) tank is around 225 miles which usually is mainly motorway (4 to 4,500 rpm) with a smaller amount of 30mph roads mixed in. If I do a trip that's non motorway I have seem just over 250 miles per tank, but to do 350 miles per tank I guess you would need to be poodleing along at a steady 56 mph, might as well have a 250 to do that sort of think.

Will research more about this fuel cell, sounds interesting, although I don't have the hump where the pillion would go but thats easily fixed!

    All the best

    Dave
